Our clients are successful people whose lives are focused on family, profession, and community. They value security, independence, and a clear vision for their future. They want the confidence that comes from knowing they are prepared for whatever might otherwise derail it.
These clients have generally reached a point in life where they’ve outgrown their desire or ability to juggle the complexities of their lives. They’re simply ready to enjoy their lives and recognize the need for guidance.
They come to us seeking solutions to their unique concerns and challenges, which might be the fear of outliving their resources; a desire to consolidate their “collection” of investments; or the need to prepare for expected or unexpected life events. Whether they want to stop trying to manage it all on their own, have decided they want a local advisor, or are concerned about providing help down the road for their surviving spouse, they’re ready to enlist the help of a professional.
Our clients appreciate our collaborative approach to designing and constructing solutions and strategies to meet their retirement income and other wealth planning needs. The guidance, encouragement, and education we provide enable them to move forward with confidence to realize their vision for their future.
We help our clients reach a better understanding of how they relate to money, what it means to them and how these values drive their decisions. This results in a better decision-making process because clients have a clearer understanding of themselves.
Our skill, capacity and innate desire to listen intently to our clients enables us to thoroughly understand what they are saying and discern their most critical needs. We then work with our clients to develop solutions that are specifically designed to help them achieve confidence and peace of mind.
We carefully lead all decision-makers (e.g. spouses, partners, parents and adult children) at a pace that ensures everyone is onboard and in sync with one another before moving forward. We don’t want anyone to feel left behind or in the dark as we talk through strategies and alternatives.

We believe in a Core and Satellite Strategy with the Core being implemented through Asset Class Funds and Satellite implemented through alternative investments.
Our CORE Investment Philosophy (Stocks and Bonds)
We believe that the capital markets are largely efficient, and the inefficiencies that do exist are difficult for any money manager to exploit consistently in order to provide excess returns relative to risk. Year in and year out, the data on mutual fund performance illustrates the inability of active managers to outperform their benchmarks. Of the handful of mutual fund managers that may have demonstrated sustained periods of outperformance, it is difficult to distinguish this performance as skill or luck with a reasonable level of statistical confidence. Therefore, we believe the bulk of a portfolio should be invested in broadly diversified asset classes to capture market or systematic returns that adequately compensate investors for the risk that is taken over time.
Our Structured Investing philosophy is based on 80 plus years of financial market data, Nobel Prize-winning economic research, and in-depth studies of investor psychology and behavior. Its central tenets are to:
Invest in the dimensions of risk where risk is rewarded over time
Effectively and thoroughly diversify asset classes
Customize portfolios based on client return and risk objectives and constraints
Exercise patience and discipline
The Structured Investing portfolio strategy utilizes dimensions that have historically provided investors with returns over time that adequately compensate investors for the additional risk inherent in the stock market as a whole, and value and small cap stocks in particular.
The essence of risk management for our portfolio strategy is effective diversification. We make every effort to incorporate Dr. Harry Markowitz’s work on Modern Portfolio Theory utilizing the purest asset classes we can obtain and understanding the dissimilar price movement and correlations among asset classes to build portfolios that optimize the risk and return continuum.
Each portfolio is structured in a way to manage risk for a desired level of return by combining asset classes to maximize the benefits of diversification. In addition, our portfolios generally contain about 8,000 to 10,000 individual securities. Each fund/asset class holds from 75 to 5000 individual securities.
By constructing a broadly diversified global “market” portfolio and emphasizing value and small cap asset classes, the models attempt to minimize risk for a given level of return.
Our SATELLITE Investment Philosophy (alternatives)
We believe alternative investments should be considered with a portion of dollars for the appropriate investors.
Within a diversified portfolio, alternative investments tend to show a low correlation with the Core investment strategy and may offer the potential to increase returns while lowering overall volatility. Some also have favorable tax characteristics.
